Born and raised in the Oakland, CA Alana's first memory of performing is as a fairy in her elementary school's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. In her adolescent and teen years, she participated in multiple creative problem solving competitions which deepened her love of performance and outside-the-box artistry. She moved to Los Angeles to attend Occidental College where she received honors and graduated magna cum laude in her theater degree with a minor in English and Comparative Literary Studies. She is highly active in the theater community and has performed in dozens of Los Angeles stage productions. In 2011 she was nominated for an Ovation Award for Best Leading Actress in a Play for the Echo Theater Company's production of Everything Will Be Different (also nominated for Best Ensemble and Best Play, Intimate Theater).
